I infer that Lynette has a congenital melanin deficiency. Are you sure Sadie would have gotten away with punching her in 1953?

I infer that Marie has the same complexion-induced social standing as Sadie -- I suppose its history that they likely would have called each other all kinds of names, but is that a good role model for today?

And is the congressman modeled on Albert Russell Wynn? Or, this beind 1953, does he have a congenital melanin deficiency too? And if so, would he really have invited Sadie to his table in 1953?

Sorry I can't offer any comments in more depth. I haven't read all the chapters you've posted, but these are a few thoughts that occur to me.
